External Hard Drive Access Denied

Well, I had this disc for some time, was fully functional well ... until a few days when it was decided that I would give an error message. So I run the base "Properties> Tools> Check Error "... the only thing, about ten percent in the race, my team decided to glitch and the check is canceled. Who I am say is very good, I thought, what the hell, I can run, no problem ... but when again, the icon of the standard unit is replaced by the generic icon "File" and when I arrived "Properties", the space used, free space, capacity, are all 0 bytes and when I try to run the error checking in again, "Access denied!
