I just got a USB 2.0 External Hard Drive MyBook. It takes about eight minutes to move a drive on it. Is not it too slow? When I click on the disk in my computer hangs for about 30 seconds before it finally opens. What's wrong with that?

Sound speed, the device works with USB 1.0 or 1.1, which is much slower than USB 2. If you are sure to have USB ports 2.0 on your system, make sure they are properly activated (to be located in the BIOS). You can also try on another computer that is safe, USB 2 on it and see if you get the same result. If you still have problems after ensuring the following: If you just bought, take it to the bank and exchange it for another. If you've had for some time, some manufacturers have diagnostic software for your external drives, see the manufacturer's support site, and run all the utilities (you can also call to see what they say).
