Generic Usb External Hard Drive Drivers

My Windows XP does not recognize my device USB mass storage on my computer?

When I ran the first USB mass storage device in a year or two ago, my pc asked to reformat and British Columbia said do not want to lose data, I do not care just want to be able to use it, the problem is I see in My Computer. I am using Windows XP, have not the driver CD that came with my camera of generic USB mass storage (also known as an external hard drive) When I look into the management the computer is presented as a mass storage device works correctly with a USB driver from 2001. When I click Driver Details says be a C: Windows system32 drivers Usbstor.sys The problem is that I do not see it in my computer or enter - Help.

I did a search for the pilot on the Internet. You must get the name of your storage device, then do a search detial www.microsoft.com or (yes sometimes they are the drivers of life) or another search engine.
