I think to get one of these DIY kits to make a record external hard drive. I wonder what the maximum size XP Home recognize, and if it varies by the case or hard drive controllers.

OS 32-bit recognizes only up about 2.2 terabytes, then this would be his limit. What is external instead of internal will not be any effect on this limit. A quick thing, much less trouble to buy a single external hard drive to one, but of course if you already want to be inside and outside, a kit is your only option.
